We are looking for a Chef/Assistant Coffee Shop Manager (approx 36 hours/week) for a popular Coffee Shop, Heritage in Thornbury, when it reopens in October.
Hours vary depending on day but will be between 8am and 6pm with the occasional evening. Rota's are two-weekly and involve working alternate Saturdays.
The job includes:
Kitchen Role
- Setting up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
- Preparation and cooking of meals, salads and cakes
- Check quality of ingredients
- Cleaning, washing up and maintenance of all areas in the kitchen
- Assisting in taking delivery of food and drink including taking products to first floor stock room
- Temperature checks as required by Food Hygiene Regulations
-Menu development (in conjunction with Coffee Shop Manager and Company Owners)
- Creation of Menu Spec Sheets
- Monitor stock and place orders when there are shortages
- Compliance with all current Health and Safety, Fire and Food Hygiene Regulations and to ensure the health, safety and enjoyment of customers and staff
Customer Facing
- Taking and processing of food and drink orders
- Preparation of hot and cold drinks including a variety of coffees
- Serving alcohol beverages upon proof of age (whenever need to ask)
- Upselling of products
- Receiving and handling of cash and use of Electronic Till System
- Building relationships with customers, both regular and new
Assistant Manager Role
- Covering Coffee Shop Manger when absent
- Cashing up
- Opening and Closing of building
- Other tasks related to the Coffee Shop as required
Previous experience and current food hygiene certificates are required.
A fire from a neighbouring property significantly damaged our Coffee Shop back in September meaning it has been closed since then in order to be rebuilt. This is therefore an exciting time to join the team as we will have a new kitchen and Coffee Shop for both our staff and customers to enjoy. You will also be part of an entirely new team.
Heritage is well known for its emphasis on homemade and quality food and is particularly popular for its homemade cakes. It also has a large garden that is fabulous in the Summer.
