Description
Set of eight volumes of ‘The Spectator’ published in 1761.
Vol 1 and 2’s front covers are detached.
Each volume with the exception of volume 2 is inscribed with the signature and year “Jane Stickney 1807”.
Jane Stickney was the mother of the Mayor of Bath (1872 – 1873), Sir Robert Stickney Blaine. Jane Stickney would have been around 22 years of age when she signed the books. A couple of the books also have handwritten notes in them.
